Asda reshuffles its general merchandising division

Asda is reshuffling its general merchandise team as its new chief merchandising officer Andrew Moore settles into his role.

Commercial director for non-food John McDowell will move to Asda’s parent company Walmart in the US, taking up the role of director for merchandise leverage. Asda said that McDowell will continue to report to Moore in his new position and will be responsible for “developing a process that helps us consistently exploit the unique buying power of Walmart”.

Louise Hoste, Asda’s current commercial director for home and seasonal, will become commercial director for the ‘Hard Lines’ business while Fiona Lambert, who is currently George brand director, will expand her role to include GM Soft Lines.

George merchandising, sourcing and supply director Nick Jones will increase his remit to include merchandise planning and sourcing for Soft Lines.

Commenting on the reshuffle, Andrew Moore said: “These are exciting times for our GM business. I am very confident that the structure we are putting in place will allow us to build even more on the growing momentum of the past few months. There are so many opportunities for us to go after within GM and I’m confident we have all the right talent and expertise to help us win.”
