OFT says retailers broke competition laws
The Office of Fair Trading has announced that it “proposes to make decisions” that retailers Argos and Littlewoods, toy manufacturer Hasbro, anda number of Hasbro’s distributors have infringed UK competition law.
The wording marks the start of a process that gives the companies under investigation the chance to respnd to the proposed decision.
The OFT has written to the parties setting out why it proposes to find that the companies entered into a number of agreements to fix the price of Hasbro toys and games. The parties have the opportunity to make oral and written representations in response, which will be taken fully into account before any final decisions are made.
