Argos launches voice shopping service via Google Assistant

Argos has launched a new service where shoppers can reserve items in their local store using their Google Home smart speaker.

The Google Assistant platform now allows people to check product availability at particular store and reserve the items for collection.

The move means the retailer is the first in the UK to use the platform to offer a shopping service.

Argos chief executive John Rogers said: “Argos is a digitally-led business at the forefront of technology and it’s really exciting that we are harnessing the simplicity of voice ordering with the convenience and popularity of click and collectto make our customers’ lives easier. We predict that the Voice Shop service will be a big hit and we will develop and refine the offer further as we get feedback from our customers.”

As well as reserving orders with voice command, customers can also ask Google to search for products and check availability. They can also find a store by saying “OK Google, Ask Argos to find my nearest store”.
