Argos adds new collection points and fulfilment centre for Black Friday
Argos has added 100 extra Argos collections points in Sainsbury’s stores and opened 14 more Argos stores inside Sainsbury’s supermarkets in the last few weeks in preparation for Black Friday.
The retailer has also invested £2.5 million in the opening of a new regional fulfilment centre in Croydon to cater for the 3.4 million households in the area.
Spanning 69,000 square feet, the facility will enable Argos to fulfil more same-day Fast Track delivery orders in the south east and to supply 15,000 more products for customers to click and collect on the same or next day. The retailer’s Fast Track delivery service enables shoppers to receive their goods in as little as four hours.
John Rogers, Argos chief executive, said: “Black Friday is no longer just about great deals; the new battleground is speed and convenience and getting customers what they want, when they want it. That’s why we’ve invested to make this Black Friday the most convenient ever for customers.
“Our teams have worked extra hard in the run up to Black Friday to ensure customers can conveniently pick up their bargains. As well as fantastic Click & Collect options, our store-to-door Fast Track service offers delivery in as little as four hours, seven days a week. We’re excited to bring this service to even more customers thanks to our new Croydon regional fulfilment centre, which will process Fast Track deliveries alongside local stores.”
On last year’s Black Friday Argos had 13,496 visits a minute to its website and apps with 79% of visits being from smartphones and tablets. In addition, there were almost one million visits to the retailer’s shops with click and collect sales up 38% and Fast Track delivery sales up 37% year-on-year.
This year Argos is expecting its top-selling products to include video gaming hardware and software, tablets, smart technology and televisions.
