Apple and consumer electronics boost John Lewis sales figures
Despite the warm weather there was an 8.3% increase in sales overall for the retailer in week 13
Week 13 2014-15 saw sales of £83.56m, an increase on 2013-14 of 8.3% and the 13 weeks increase on 2013-14 is 8.8%.
Paula Nickolds, Buying and Brand Director for John Lewis said that, “The end of the trading period saw EHT sales boosted by the new Apple product launches, while the balmy temperatures continued to impact cold weather product sales; at times during the week the weather was almost 10 degrees warmer than the same time last year. Overall though we ended a creditable 8.3% up, with shops up 2.7% and online up 22.5%.”
EHT sales were up 14.6% and there was also good sales growth in Vision, up 7%, and Large Electrical, up 5%.
Home sales were up 6.3% and while cold weather assortments in Fashion continued to struggle, there was total sales growth of 4.2% helped by continued strong trade in Nursery, up 23%, and Beauty Premium, up 6%.
