New chief at supermarket chain
As widely predicted, Asda has confirmed that chief operating officer Andy Bond is to take up the position of chief executive.
Bond, 40, is to take the top spot at the Wal-Mart- owned UK supermarket chain with immediate effect. He replaces chief executive Tony DeNunzio, who is leaving to head up Dutch retail group Vendex.
Bond was appointed to his current role in September after a successful stint in charge of the development of Asda’s George clothing brand, which has opened standalone stores and been rolled out internationally across the Wal-Mart empire.
