Amazon US launches delivery solution for apartment buildings

Amazon in the US has launched Hub by Amazon, a delivery solution for apartment buildings.

Designed for the safe storage of packages, the Hub can be used for deliveries from any sender, not just Amazon.

After ordering residents have their shipments sent to their apartment address as usual, but when their package arrives at their building it is delivered to the Hub to be safely stored for pickup.

Patrick Supanc, director of Amazon Worldwide Lockers and Pickup, said: “Now half a million residents in some of the premier properties in the country have access to the Hub, Amazon’s latest delivery solution. The Hub simplifies delivery for residents, offering quick and secure access to packages, day or night. For delivery providers, it offers a single, convenient location for package drop-off and gives property managers time and resources back to focus on other priorities.”

Amazon said residential property owners and managers signing up to use the new service include the likes of AvalonBay, Fairfield Residential, Pinnacle, JP Morgan Asset Management, Winn Residential and Equity Residential.
