Amazon to install collection lockers in shopping centres
Amazon is launching a Click and Collect scheme where customers can collect items bought on the web from lockers at major shopping centres.
The online retailer has negotiated a deal with Land Securities to install the lockers at selected shopping centres in London. The first lockers at One New Change in the City are expected to be active as early as next week.
The service has been set up to help customers who are not at home to receive their goods during the day. When ordering goods on the Amazon website, customers will be given a personal code which will then allow them access to a locker at their chosen shopping centre where their package will be waiting for them.
The move follows the launch of a similar service in the US where Amazon customers can opt to collect their purchases from 7-Eleven stores.
