Amazon to deliver fresh food items within an hour in Seattle
Amazon has begun delivering fresh food items to customers within an hour in the Seattle area in the US.
Prime Now, the mobile application exclusively available to members of Amazon Prime, has been launched in the online retail giant’s home town and includes the delivery of fresh food.
Residents of Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland can now get one-hour delivery on items such as paper towels, wine, beer, chilled and frozen items, milk and ice cream, as well as televisions and Kindle devices.
“Prime Now is our fastest delivery option ever. With Prime Now, you can skip a trip to the store and get the items you need delivered right to your door in under an hour,” said Stephenie Landry, director of Amazon’s Prime Now service. “Customers love the convenience of one-hour delivery and we’re excited to bring Prime Now to our hometown customers in Seattle and surrounding areas.”
Amazon launched one-hour delivery for Prime members in the UK this summer but the service does not currently include fresh food items.
In the Seattle area, Prime Now delivers from 8am to midnight, seven days a week. Two-hour delivery is free and one-hour delivery is available for $7.99.
