Amazon Sunday deliveries quadruple year-on-year
Amazon has seen its Sunday deliveries quadruple in the last year as consumers’ shopping habits continue to evolve.
The online retailer said the increase has been driven by its Amazon Logistics business which enables local and national delivery companies to deliver Amazon parcels to customers seven days a week.
Jamie Stephenson, UK director for Amazon Logistics, said: “We’re excited that so many customers are taking advantage of Sunday delivery and that so many local and regional delivery companies continue to join the Amazon Logistics platform.
“And this is just the beginning – we recently opened a new delivery station in Glasgow and we hope to expand even further in the future.”
Never Miss a Retail Update! The Glasgow facility opened in December 2014 and is one of 13 UK delivery and sorting stations, which range in size from 20,000 to 160,000 square feet.
Amazon customers can also receive their orders at one of 16,000 Amazon Pickup Locations which now include more than 10,500 Post Office branches. Amazon said deliveries to pickup locations have more than tripled in the last year.
