Amazon predicts busiest online Christmas shopping day

Amazon.co.uk is predicting that the UK’s busiest online shopping day will be Monday 5 December and says it expects the highest volume of customer orders to be placed at 9pm that day.

It also expects Monday 12 December to be a day of high demand as customers become increasingly comfortable with ordering nearer to Christmas.

Christopher North, Managing Director of Amazon.co.uk said: “In recent years, the first Monday in December has been Amazon.co.uk’s busiest day with orders for over 2.3 million items being placed on Monday 6th December last year.”

He added: “Mondays remain the busiest shopping day in the run up to Christmas, but every day of that week will see high sales as more and more people have immediate access to shop online via home broadband and, increasingly, mobile devices.”

The company said it expects its Kindle products to be its biggest sellers this Christmas. It also revealed the top ten products on customers’ wish lists which Amazon said gives a good indication of other items expected to sell well at Christmas.

The top ten list of products on Amazon customers’ wish lists are as follows:

1. Kindle

3. ‘Steve Jobs: The Exclusive Biography’ – Walter Isaacson (Hardcover)
