Amazon extends Prime Now one-hour delivery to Liverpool
Amazon has expanded its Prime Now fast delivery service to Prime members in Liverpool and the surrounding areas including Birkenhead, Warrington and Wigan.
The service, which launched for Prime members in London and Birmingham last year and was extended to Manchester in December, offers one-hour delivery on thousands of everyday essentials such as coffee, batteries and nappies, as well items such as games consoles, toys and sports equipment.
Customers in the Liverpool area can choose delivery within one hour of ordering for £6.99, or free delivery within a choice of two-hour, same-day delivery slots between 8am and midnight, seven days a week.
“Prime Now is our fastest delivery option ever and we are excited to make it available for customers in Liverpool,” said Jason Weston, director of Prime Now. “Whether it’s essentials like fresh milk, nappies or even a last minute gift, customers love the convenience of delivery straight to their door in less than sixty minutes.”
Prime Now customers also have access to a range of chilled and frozen items ranging from yogurts, bread, fresh juices and eggs to pizzas, fish fingers and ice-cream. The online retailer has revealed that the most popular Prime Now purchase of 2015 was the Fire TV Stick, closely followed by bottled water, Pepsi Max and Terry’s Chocolate Orange.
Amazon has also reported that net sales rose 22% to $35.75 billion in its fourth quarter while profits climbed to $482 million from $214 million during the same time in the previous year.
Despite the size of the increase, Amazon’s profits fell short of analysts’ expectations.
Sales for the full year to 31 December 2015 rose by 20% to $107 billion to mark the first time the total exceeded $100 billion.
