Amazon created 6,000 jobs in Europe in 2014
Online retail giant Amazon created more than 6,000 new permanent jobs across the European Union in 2014.
This was the company’s biggest number of hirings in a single year since it opened its first EU websites, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de, in 1998. Amazon now has more than 32,000 permanent employees across the EU.
Xavier Garambois, vice president of Amazon EU retail, said: “Demand from our customers in the EU is greater than ever, and we see lots of promising areas to invent and invest for the future. Over the past two years, we have created well in excess of 10,000 new jobs to add to our already large team of Amazonians, and this past year we set a new record with the addition of over 6,000 new positions.
“Even with all of this hiring, we remain in a phase of heavy investment and have many positions available which we look forward to filling in 2015.”
