Allied Carpets sold to Floors-2-Go in pre-pack deal
Allied Carpets has been sold in a pre-pack administration deal to flooring retailer Floors-2-Go.
The deal has resulted in just nine stores and 41 jobs being saved after Allied fell into administration for the third time. Ten stores were shut after the appointment of administrators last week, although it is not know how many jobs were lost.
Allied first collapsed into administration in 2009 when more than 140 stores were closed. This was followed by a second administration in 2011 when the firm was rescued by former director Dean Weston.
Administrators Duff & Phelps said Floors-2-Go had agreed to honour all outstanding customer orders as part of the sale.
Floors-2-Go was itself put into administration in August last year which resulted in 35 stores being sold to Nixon & Hope, a vehicle led by former Floors-2-Go managers David Vizor and Parjinder Sangha. The sale saved 162 jobs, although 192 staff were made redundant.
