Alliance UniChem restructures Swiss operations
Pharmacy operator to acquire wholesaler Alloga
Alliance UniChem has bought an 80 per cent stake in pharmacy wholesale business Alloga from its Swiss partner Galenica.
In return, Alliance UniChem is to sell its 20 per cent interest in Alloga’s Swiss business to Galenica, giving it 100 per cent ownership.
Alliance, which owns a 25.5 per cent stake in Galenica, said the restructuring would “create greater focus on their respective areas of expertise” and simplify trading relationships.
This deal gives Alliance UniChem complete ownership of Alloga outside Switzerland, allowing it to supply healthcare manufacturers across Europe with a complementary service to its existing wholesale businesses.
Alliance UniChem is also selling its 50 per cent interest in GaleniCare, one of Switzerland’s leading pharmacy chains, to Galenica, which owns the other 50 per cent.
Ian Meakins, chief executive, said: “Ownership of Alloga will give us an enhanced platform to accelerate the provision of services to healthcare manufacturers across Europe, building upon long-established partnerships within Alloga.”
