Department store chain in talks with a number of potential bidders
November 28 2002
UK department store operator Allders says it has attracted more bid interest.
The company is currently in takeover negotiations with property company Minerva , which already has a 25 per cent stake in the business, with Minerva likely to make a bid at around 160p-a-share.
Allders did not specify where other approaches have come from. The company held merger negotiations with rival House of Fraser three years ago, and there has recently been speculation that the two have been talking again,
Icelandic retailer Baugur, which has taken a stake in House of Fraser, has also shown an interest in acquiring Allders stock.
