Alastair McKay takes chair at LRC

John Lewis director takes over role
Alastair McKay, director of corporate responsibility at the John Lewis Partnership, has been named the next chairman of the LRC, succeeding fellow John Lewis director Luke Mayhew, who has chaired the LRC since April 2004.

Mckay joined John Lewis in 1990 after a career with the Royal Air Force and has been a member of the Partnership board since 2000.
LRC Chairman, Alastair McKay, said: “The LRC plays a crucial role in providing a single voice for retailers, large and small, in London – not only the iconic shopping destinations of the West end and central London, but of all London retailers within the M25.
“I am very excited about my new role as LRC chairman. Many challenges lie ahead for retailers in London which have the capacity to add to the burden of excessive regulation and costs already facing shop owners. I feel my experience in retail and knowledge of London issues offers exactly the right blend of skills needed to help the LRC ensure London remains a world class shopping destination.
“I would also like to thank Luke Mayhew for the invaluable contribution he has made to the LRC during his term as Chairman.”
