Air shutdown could put British produce on shelves

Shoppers could find more British produce on the shelves as disruption to air freight causes shortages of some imported fresh fruit and vegetables, The Daily Telegraph reports.

The Freight Industry Association said consumers would notice “scarcity of some items on the shelves” from Monday.A spokeswoman said thousands of tonnes of fresh produce destined for Britain are currently rotting at airport freight depots around the world because cargo flights are unable to take off.
