Tops Markets chains sold to consortium
Ahold has announced the completion of the sale of part of its Tops Markets business in the US.
The Netherlands-based supermarket operator has sold its 198 Wilson Farms and Sugarcreek convenience stores, to WFI Acquisition a corporation formed by Nanco Enterprises and Bruckmann, Rosser, Sherrill & Co.
The deal was announced in April, forming part of Ahold’s ‘Road to Recovery’ strategy to focus on core markets.
Ahold has also announced the appointment of Kerry Underhill as senior vice president, corporate communications. Underhill’s new role will be corporate affairs, food safety and consumer affairs, investor relations, issue management, media relations and marketing and internal communications.
Ahold CEO Anders Moberg said: “We are delighted to have found a highly experienced all-rounder to spearhead our communications strategy as we reach the intersection of the Road to Recovery and our future strategic direction.”
