Ahold agrees of sale of Tops c-stores

US chain sold to consortium
Ahold has agreed the sale of its 198-store US subsidiary Tops Markets.

The c-store business is being acquired by WFI Acquisition, a corporation formed by Nanco Enterprises. and Bruckmann, Rosser, Sherrill & Co.
The business is made up of Dutch supermarket giant Ahold’s remaining c-store business in the US. The company announced last year it was seeking to exit the US convenience market as it streamlines its global business as part of its ‘Road to Recovery’ programme.
The stores will continue to operate under the Wilson Farms and Sugarcreek brands. The price being paid has not been revealed.
Wilson Farms operates convenience stores in Western and Central New York while the Sugarcreek stores, all selling fuel, are located in Central and Northern New York.
