ACS appoints Paul Stone and Andy Cresswell to its board

The Association of Convenience Stores has appointed Paul Stone and Andy Cresswell to its board of directors.

With the board comprising members from the independent retail, symbol group and multiple retailer sectors, Stone will represent independent retailers while Cresswell will represent the multiples. The appointments were made as a result of a confidential vote by the existing board members.

Stone, who runs a group of six SPAR stores in Manchester city centre, said: “I am delighted to be representing independent retailers on the main board of the ACS and I look forward to working with the other directors to support the great work of ACS.”

Cresswell is deputy chief executive – trading at Midcounties Co-operative where he is responsible for 181 stores as well as the group’s pharmacy, energy and end of life care businesses. He added: “We have worked with ACS for many years and I am looking forward to increasing my personal involvement. As a Co-operative we are committed to making sure everyone has an opportunity to be involved in the important decisions that affect them and ACS helps make this possible.”

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “I am delighted to welcome Paul and Andy to the board and will look forward to them bringing their wealth of experience to the decision making process of ACS.”
