49 shades of retail
Customer engagement is the phrase of the moment. Now more than ever, retailers are placing real focus on the in-store customer experience. By Russell Willcox, chairman of Box Technologies.
It’s a well-known fact that satisfied customers are likely to spend a longer time in the store, making purchases.
In addition, the face of retail technology is ever-changing – evolving to meet customers’ expectations and needs. We’re witnessing increased demand for mobile and tablet communication tools, for general customer interaction and payment within the store environment. And, what we have worked hard to develop, is a system which can manage both the information and transaction stages – as opposed to having separate PoS and tablet devices. We know we have to provide retailers with as much armoury as possible to ‘make the sale’.
Equally, digital signage is becoming increasingly important for the retailer. We’re looking at a way of providing a more generalised approach, designed to offer something for every possible customer and purchasing dynamic. Multiple screens will have the capability to run different sets of video.
Never Miss a Retail Update! And, we’re doing some pretty exciting stuff in the world of digital wardrobes – linking into social media, to enhance customer spending. Seeing is believing in this creative technology sector.
Clearly, today’s customer is most likely to favour a store which is laid out in a way that they appreciate, and where they want to shop. We understand the challenges faced by the buying community when it comes to creating and managing visual merchandising. We are launching a suite of visual merchandising and planning software that will enable retailers to operate more efficiently in their visual merchandising and buying departments. Providing ROI in all areas of the business is a prerequisite for retailers in 2013.
In response to our evolving sector and its needs, we are running an event on 8 November, 2012. We’re bringing senior executives from the UK’s top retailers to debate the industry issues, and we will be introducing future developments in retail technology.
Entitled ’49 shades of retail’ – this one-day event will showcase some of our innovations for 2013. It will provide guidance on where retailers should be looking to invest and what will help to change the face of their business in what is likely to be another competitive year ahead.
