36 more Adams stores close
27 January, 2009 | by Retail Bulletin
36 branches of Adams have been closed with the loss of 267 jobs.
The store closures in the UK and Ireland came after a review of the business and “the continued difficulties on the high street”. Joint administrator Rob Hunt said: “Our priorities are to work with the existing management team to continue trading the business as normal while we continue to pursue a sale. “The recent job losses are regrettable but will place the company in a stronger position whilst we explore opportunities to conclude a sale.” Administrators PwC added that the remaining 125 Adams store would stay open while it continued efforts to sell the business. PwC had already shut 111 of the chain’s stores with the loss of 850 jobs.
