WH Smith launches first own-brand Christmas sandwich range

WH Smith has launched its first own-brand range of Christmas sandwiches into 300 travel stores in the UK.

Part of the retailer’s own-brand Smith’s Family Kitchen food to go range, the selection comprises eight different sandwiches, including the Ultimate Christmas Dinner, Merry Miso Chicken and the Vegan Spiced Parsnip Christmas sandwich.

Each Christmas sandwich is included in the WH Smith meal deal.

Andrew Harrison, managing director of UK travel at WH Smith, said: “This launch marks another food first for WH Smith and shows just how committed we are to growing our food credentials and offering a high-quality range for travelling customers, particularly those wanting a bit of Christmas magic on their journey.”

WH Smith launched the Smith’s Family Kitchen brand earlier this year in response to  growing demand for food among its travelling customers. Products include sandwiches, wraps and salads and sales have come in ahead of expectations.

The retailer operates more than 500 stores across air, rail and hospitals.  Food  now  represents around 15% of revenue in its UK travel business.
