Waitrose to offer children’s cookery classes this summer
Waitrose is to offer children’s cookery classes at its cookery schools this August. The classes will aim to teach children new skills and inspire a love of food.
Classes will be designed for children aged five to eight and nine to twelve. They will be held at Waitrose cookery schools in Salisbury and London’s Finchley Road and King’s Cross.
Sarah Buck, chef tutor at Waitrose & Partners Cookery Schools, said: “Our children’s cookery classes are packed full of flavour and fun. Recipes can be taken home to try again, keeping the kids occupied, happy and everyone well fed.”
The sessions for younger children will help them create items such as cheese and chive scones with whipped feta. The older children will be taught how to cook a two-course meal.
Meanwhile, a class designed for teenagers will be available at the Waitrose’s cookery school in Salisbury. The session will teach them how to make a meal for friends with recipes including chicken quesadillas and flour and corn tortillas.
The Finchley Road cookery school will also offer four hour cooking sessions for families. One class will focus on creating a Middle Eastern feast whilst the other will help families to create summer Asian recipes.
