Waitrose appoints new trading director and director of online

Waitrose has appointed Charlotte di Cello as trading director and Laura Burbedge as director of online following an internal and external recruitment process.

Currently working as chief commercial officer at Leon, di Cello will take up her new role on 18 January. Prior to Leon, she gained significant experience in the retail and grocery sector whilst working in trading, finance and strategy teams at Sainsbury’s. She will be replacing Rupert Thomas who is stepping down from the role at the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Burbedge will become online director for Waitrose on 4 January after carrying out the role on an interim basis. She has been credited with playing an integral role in the successful growth of Waitrose’s online business this year after the supermarket parted ways with Ocado.

James Bailey, Waitrose executive director, said: “Both roles are pivotal to the delivery of the Waitrose strategy to ensure we maintain our leading market position on quality, ethics, availability and value for customers.”
