Waitrose announces first supermarket to have in-store Gail’s Bakery
Waitrose has announced that Canary Wharf will be its first supermarket to have an in-store Gail’s takeaway bakery.
The news forms part of Waitrose’s commitment to enhancing and improving the customer experience and comes a year after the introduction of dedicated Gail’s bakery areas within 64 Waitrose stores.
Spanning 280 square feet, the bakery will offer customers a range of bread, baked goods and specialty coffee that will all be prepared on-site.
In addition to takeaway and click and collect options, customers will be able to order Gail’s sharing ranges for home and office delivery.
Nathan Ansell, customer director at Waitrose, said: “Building on our successful partnership with the launch of a new and innovative GAIL’s bakery is hugely exciting.
“Synonymous with quality, expertise, and taste, Gail’s very much reflects our own core values and we know how much our food-loving customers enjoy their products.”
Waitrose Canary Wharf accounts for nearly 5% of the total Gail’s Waitrose sales. The supermarket has seen sales of Gail’s lines within its stores rise by 35% year-on-year.
Marta Pogroszweska, Gail’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to be opening one of our neighbourhood bakeries within the Canary Wharf Waitrose. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with Waitrose and welcoming the community to our latest craft bakery.”
The Gail’s takeaway bakery will be located on the lower ground floor of the store.
