Virgin Wines chief financial officer to retire
Virgin Wines has announced that Graeme Weir is retiring from his role as chief financial officer and company secretary after 22 years with the group,
The online wine retailer said Weir had played a huge role in the growth of the business. Working alongside chief executive Jay Wright, this has included leading the company’s private equity-backed buyout in 2013 and its IPO in 2021.
He will formally leave the Virgin Wines board on 4 April 2025.
Weir will be succeeded as chief financial officer and company secretary by Amanda Cherry, who is being promoted from the position of head of group finance. Cherry has worked with the company for 16 years and previously spent time at United Utilities and Interfloor Group.
Wright said: “We would like to thank Graeme for his enormous contribution to the group and wish him well in his retirement. He has played a vital role in the group’s significant progress and growth over the last 22 years.
