University of Aberdeen opens second Scottish Co-op franchise store
The University of Aberdeen has teamed up with the Co-op to transform its existing campus store.
Following an extensive refurbishment, the shop has been relaunched as Scotland’s second Co-op franchise store ahead of the new academic year. The shop has opened a year on from Stirling University’s franchise store opening.
Operated by ORL Group, the Aberdeen store is situated in the Hillhead Student Village and will stock a range of grocery essentials and food items, as well as food-to-go, hot food and and Fairtrade products. It also has a Seattle’s Best coffee machine. Students who have a Young Scot or TOTUM card will receive a 10% discount at the Co-op.
Martin Rogers, head of new channels at Co-op, said: “Our university franchise stores are a great opportunity for us to grow our brand, share our values, and get our products into the hands of the next generation of customers and members and as the exclusive retail grocery store franchise partner for The National Union of Students (NUS) and we’re already serving c.150k students up and down the country. We’re delighted to add Aberdeen to our ever-growing portfolio and to welcome these students and community.”
