Tesco launches drive to fill 26,000 festive roles

Tesco is looking to hire 26,000 temporary staff members across the UK for the busy Christmas season.

Based in the supermarket’s Superstores and Extra stores, the roles will cover tasks such as picking items for online orders, replenishing stock, and providing support to existing store teams.

Alexandra Brown, Tesco group people services director, said: “We have already started to recruit for our festive colleagues and we are looking for 26,000 colleagues to join us to give our customers a Christmas to remember.

“Our festive roles are a great way to be part of the Tesco team, day or night from checkouts to picking orders for home delivery or replenishing the store, meeting great people, learning new skills and being part of a diverse team where everyone’s welcome.

“We had a fantastic response for festive roles last year and we would love to also hear back from anyone who worked with us last year.”

In addition to recruiting colleagues through the usual channels, Tesco is also offering interviews for anyone who attends one of its Career Clinics taking place across the UK in November. These aim to help individuals currently out of work to overcome common barriers to employment, such as skill gaps, lack of confidence, and challenges with the recruitment process.

After the Christmas season, temporary staff will be encouraged to apply for any permanent positions that become available in Tesco stores.
