Tesco launches Accelerator Programme for developing brands
Tesco is championing 27 up-and-coming brands with the launch of its new Accelerator Programme.
The supermarket said in a statement that the scheme will provide support to some of the most innovative brands in the UK, with suppliers having the opportunity to have their products stocked in Tesco stores and online.
The brands have been selected according to emerging product trends, including health and sustainability and speciality products that cater to the communities in which Tesco operates. It will also include values-driven brands that actively give back to their communities.
The programme has replaced the Tesco Incubator Programme that launched several high-profile brands at the retailer.
The brands will be supported by a new dedicated innovation buying team at Tesco and will also benefit from a year-long programme of mentoring, learning and development focusing on growth.
Ashwin Prasad, chief commercial officer at Tesco said: “Our customers love to try innovative new products, whether that’s a speciality product they can’t get anywhere else, or a brand that has sustainability at its heart, so it’s a real pleasure to launch this expanded programme, helping to support the development and growth of exciting brands at Tesco. We’re really looking forward to working with these brands and the brilliant teams behind them, and I wish each of them great success.”
