Tesco and Pret a Manger pull the plug on concession partnership
Tesco has ended its in-store concessions trial with Pret A Manager after just over a year.
The grocer and coffee chain announced the trial in May last year, with the first concession launching a month later. The trial was in an effort to broaden its traditional customer base beyond office worker locations.
However, only one of the four planned “shop-in-shops” was opened in Peterborough.
The store operated as concessions were managed by Pret A Manger, where coffee was served alongside other barista-prepared beverages and food-to-go items.
The end of the trial comes days after the supermarket giant announced it would be delisting Pret’s coffee range from its stores.
Pret A Manager announced a 230% increase in revenues to £357.8 million in the first six months of the year.
