Sustainable Urban Farm pop-up launches on Fleet Street
London’s Fleet Street Quarter has added community-led pop-up Urban Farm to its line-up at 109 Fleet Street.
In a partnership with Square Mile Farms, the first of its kind initiative invites members of the local community to harvest sustainable produce grown at the pop-up. The space will also play host to a series of interactive workshops.
Urban Farm will use self-watering hydroponic towers and walls to enable the production of over 1,000 supermarket-sized salad bags of ultra-fresh greens this month. On 14 June and 21 June, visitors will be able to harvest parsley, kale, sage and basil grown at the pop-up.
Rachael Smith, BID manager, Fleet Street Quarter, said: “The BID’s Urban Farm underlines the Fleet Street Quarter’s aims to foster environmental and community stewardship.
“An innovative solution to developing engaging retail units, the initiative exemplifies how the BID is taking a hands-on approach to promoting sustainability in the Fleet Street Quarter.”
