St Ives Co-op re-opens following six-week programme of improvements

Co-op re-launches a St Ives store following a six-week programme of works and improvements.

The convenience retailer’s Royal Square, St Ives, store opens between 7am-11pm daily and, supports 12 local jobs. It is one of three Co-op stores in St Ives, with others located in The Stennack and Tregenna Place.

Designed to serve and support the community and tourists, conveniently, Co-op’s near 2,000 sq ft Royal Square store includes an in-store bakery alongside a focus on fresh, healthy products; meal ideas; everyday essentials; food-to-go; chilled beers and award winning wines; ready meals; pizzas; Fairtrade products and, free-from; vegan and plant-based products.

Self-scan tills have been added for extra speed and convenience, especially during peak times. A soft plastic recycle unit is also available in store to enable the community to recycle ‘soft plastics’ including: crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches – ensuring all Co-op’s own food packaging is recyclable through either local authority kerbside collections, or the in-store recycling unit.

Enhanced back of shop storage and warehousing also further improves product availability and, operational resilience.

Co-op also offers the online home delivery of groceries from its stores in St Ives, delivering within a 10-mile radius. Orders placed through Co-op’s online shop – shop.coop.co.uk – are picked fresh in store, and delivered quickly and conveniently in and around the area.

Co-op Store Manager, Liam Douglas, said: “We have had a great response. The whole team is delighted to have had the opportunity to invest in improving the store to serve and support residents and, visitors to the area. Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we’ve worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer, conveniently. This includes a focus on delivering member-value so that the people who own our business, Co-op’s member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”

Co-op is one of the world’s largest consumer-owned co-operatives. Its Members own the business and play an intrinsic part in the governance of the organisation, enjoying a wide number of benefits including member-only pricing across everyday essentials and, personalised offers via the Co-op Membership app.

In January, Co-op launched a significant new round of member prices within its Food business which saw a further 117 everyday low prices including, for the first time, branded goods. This followed the biggest ever investment in convenience pricing last year, where Member prices were introduced on 175 everyday essential products.
