Sainsbury’s sells festive roast for less than £4 per person as it invests £50m in price
Sainsbury’s is selling a Christmas roast, all the trimmings and a dessert for less than £4 per person to help customers through the cost-of-living crisis.
Feeding six, the “inflation-busting” meal includes British turkey complemented by roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, carrots, sage and onion stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, sprouts and parsnips, as well as gravy and cranberry sauce. The deal also includes a trifle dish for dessert
Sainsbury’s said the price of the festive meal has been held at the same as last year despite rising inflation.
The news comes on the back of a further £50 million investment the supermarket is making to keep costs down for customers at Christmas and into the new year
Simon Roberts, chief executive of Sainsbury’s, said: “We really understand that millions of households are having to make really tough decisions this Christmas and our job is to do everything we can to help with the rising costs of living. We are accelerating our commitment to being the best value, investing a further £50 million in lowering prices and doing everything we can to fight inflation and help our customers enjoy celebrating this year.”
