Sainsbury’s Local returns to Marble Arch
Sainsbury’s convenience offer has returned to London’s Marble Arch with the opening of the new Westminster Marble Arch Local.
Situated just opposite Hyde Park and Marble Arch Underground station, the shop will offer the supermarket’s latest product range including fresh food, fruit, vegetables and frozen food, as well as a selection of branded and own brand grocery products.
Bread and pastries will be baked in-store every day and customers will be able to pick up coffee from a self-service Costa coffee machine and freshly squeezed orange juice from an in-store juicer.
The store will also feature an Argos click and collect point.
The new shop will give Sainsbury’s the chance to showcase its latest convenience format to local shoppers for the first time since the closure of its previous Marble Arch Local in 2016.
Spanning 2,889 square feet, the store is aiming to attract a customer base that includes local workers, shoppers, residents and visitors to central London.
Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s property director, said: “I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to bring a new Sainsbury’s Local to Marble Arch. Whether for busy Londoners, residents or tourists, this store offers great convenience and quality food. The store looks fantastic and I am so pleased to see the team out in force to welcome everyone through the doors for its first day of trading.”
On the store opening day, Catherine Mahony, chief executive of Westminster Befriend a Family, joined the new store team to cut the ribbon and welcome the first customers through the doors.
Abdul Ojud, Westminster Marble Arch Local store manager, said: “My team and I have been working hard to prepare for today’s opening and we’re very proud of our new store. I firmly believe customers in Marble Arch are really going to enjoy having Sainsbury’s on their doorstep once again.”
