Sainsbury’s launches in-store ice cream parlours
Sainsbury’s has teamed up with Unilever to launch five in-store ice cream parlours.
Shoppers in Sainsbury’s Balham, Wandsworth and Clapham Common stores are being offered Ben & Jerry’s ice cream while those in Bishop Stortford and Walton-on-Thames can purchase Carte D’or. Customers at all of the shops are also able to create their own ice cream combinations by choosing from a range of flavours, toppings and sauces.
Nicola Goodall, Sainsbury’s proposition manager, said: “When temperatures hot up, we know our customers love nothing more than to cool down with an ice cream. Our in-store Ben & Jerry’s and Carte D’or parlours offer customers the chance to quickly and conveniently pop in and pick up a scoop – or pint! – of ice cream to enjoy. Whatever the weather and whatever the occasion, Sainsbury’s customers can find everything they need in our stores.”
The Ben & Jerry’s parlours will offer Sainsbury’s shoppers some new and “scoop-only” flavours, including Cherry Garcia and Double Caramel Brownie. Ben & Jerry’s prices start from £3 for one scoop and rise to £6.50 for a hand-packed pint of ice cream. The pint option offers customers the chance to create their own tub using up to four flavours.
Meanwhile, Carte D’or prices range from £2.50 for one scoop in a sugar cone to £4.25 for a waffle with ice cream including topping/sauce.
Over the last year, Sainsbury’s has also introduced Sushi Gourmet counters, Patisserie Valerie cakes, a Crussh juice counter and a Zizzi pizza counter to its stores.
