Sainsbury’s celebrates launch of new flagship store in Wales
Sainsbury’s has opened a new 53,000 square foot supermarket in Talbot Green in Wales.
The retailer described the move as a game-changer for customers in the local area.
The store features a state-of-the-art food hall that is designed to highlight Sainsbury’s revitalised commitment to ‘Good food for all of us’. It also includes sections for the retailer’s Habitat homeware and Tu Clothing ranges, as well as an Argos shop-in-shop that offers customers access to thousands of toys, home products and electrical items.
Customers will also find an ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging service in the store’s car park.
Alex Davies-Jones, MP for Pontypridd, joined Sainsbury’s staff, customers and local councillors yesterday to cut the ribbon and officially open the store.
Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s director of property, procurement and EV Ventures, said: “I’m immensely proud of everyone who has helped to deliver this fantastic new store. We’re determined to be First Choice for Food, ensuring more customers in more of our stores can enjoy more brilliant Sainsbury’s food and Sainsbury’s Talbot Green is a prime example of how we’re striving towards that.
“It was also really exciting to celebrate the launch of our 30th Smart Charge location, the latest step in our plan to give confidence in public EV charging a major boost by building a trusted ultra-rapid charging brand that helps reduce range anxiety for EV drivers nationwide.”
Martin Bennett, Sainsbury’s Talbot Green store manager said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming customers through the doors of our brand-new store and we look forward to getting to know many of them in the months and years to come.
“This is a really proud moment for me and my team as we launch an amazing new supermarket that puts our commitment to providing good food for all of us into practice for the benefit of all our customers in and around Talbot Green.”
