Pret A Manger spreads festive joy with Christmas displays

Pret A Manger is bringing joy to the UK with its first-ever Christmas window displays, celebrating the people and moments that defined 2024.

These displays, showcased at Carnaby Street (London), New Street (Birmingham), and Oxford Street (Manchester), are inspired by the Top 10 most joyful moments of the year, as voted by the British public.

Highlights include Jude Bellingham’s iconic overhead goal, Sir David Attenborough’s 70 years of dedication to wildlife, and Keely Hodgkinson’s gold medal in Paris. These moments are creatively reimagined with a festive twist by artist Andy Billett, using Pret’s seasonal menu items, such as mince pies and Melvin the Snowman gingerbread. A quarter (25%) of people say they associate joy with food, making Pret’s displays a delicious celebration of happiness.

2024 has been a standout year for joy, with the average Brit experiencing 44 joyful moments. Pret isn’t just celebrating national milestones but also honouring local heroes at its Edinburgh and Liverpool shops. In Liverpool, Elizabeth Fearon of Toxteth Women’s Centre supports families in need, while in Edinburgh, Shikha Ahuja of the Milan Senior Welfare Organisation combats loneliness in the elderly South Asian community through vibrant events and activities.

Pret’s festive mission extends beyond decoration, encouraging giving back. QR codes in window displays allow customers to learn about and donate to The Pret Foundation, which fights hunger, poverty, and homelessness. In 2023, the foundation donated over 5 million food items and continues to provide opportunities through its Rising Stars programme.

Katherine Bagshawe, UK Food & Coffee Director, said: “At Pret, Christmas is about coming together, celebrating, and sharing joy. We’re proud to highlight remarkable individuals and national milestones while giving back to those in need.”

Visit Pret’s shops in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Liverpool to see these joyful displays and join the #ShareTheJoy campaign by sharing your own memories from 2024 on social media.
