Poundland to open trio of new stores this weekend
Poundland is getting ready to open three new stores on 8 April as it continues to expand across the UK.
Spanning 5,100 square feet, a new store in Queensway Centre in Weston-super-Mare will employ 21 full and part-time team members and will be Poundland’s second store in the town.
Poundland director of retail Darren Kay said: “We can’t wait to open our doors at the Queensway Centre and we know from talking to people in Weston that shoppers are looking forward to the opening of our second store.
“We’re working hard to make sure our new store will be a cracking example of the breadth of what we can offer in a convenient location. “And just like all our stores, it will offer amazing value to customers looking to make their money go further.
The shop will join the growing number of Poundland stores that now sell chilled and frozen food, with products ranging from desserts and ice-cream to ready meals, pies, cooked meats and frozen vegetables. It will also stock a wide selection of Pep clothing and home items.
In addition, the retailer will be opening a new shop in Burton following the closure of the town’s Octagon Centre site. At 15,000 square feet, the Coopers Square store will be nearly three times the size of a normal Poundland shop and will feature a commemorative blue plaque as Burton was the place where Poundland launched its first store in 1990.
Poundland will also be opening a new store in Castle Bromwich’s Timberley Lane which will employ 18 full and part-time colleagues.
