Poundland rolls out chilled and frozen food to a further 46 stores
Poundland has begun rolling out chilled and frozen food to a further 46 stores this week as it looks to offer the range in 250 shops by the end of September.
This latest round of work will take the number of Poundland stores with chilled and frozen ‘shop-in-shops’ to 175. A further six stores will be added to the programme in May and June while 70 shops will be included in a wider rollout beginning in July.
Poundland is aiming to have 500 stores stocking the range within two years.
Items include everyday meals and snacks such as ready-meals, pizzas and pies, as well as frozen desserts and ice-cream. The ranges have been developed with Fultons Foods which Poundland acquired last year.
Austin Cooke, retail and transformation director at Poundland, said: “The past year has shown how important Poundland stores are to their local communities and providing a range of chilled and frozen food means our customers can get more of what they need in one shopping trip.
“Where we’ve given stores a makeover, the feedback has been tremendous. Shoppers love the extended ranges, and not just in chilled and frozen, and they really like the store layouts and the work we’ve done to make it easier to shop and check out.”
