Popeyes on track to double its UK store estate this year

Popeyes, the fast growing chicken QSR brand, is to open its 50th UK store in Glasgow.

The news means that the brand is on track to double the size of its UK estate this year.

Popeyes entered the UK market in November 2021 and since then has opened 49 sites, including seven drive-thrus and 13 delivery kitchens.

During the remainder of 2024, the company will be opening new stores in places like Watford, Wimbledon, Nottingham Teal and  Belfast, as well as a second location in Aberdeen. The new launches are expected to create a total of 2,000 new jobs.

Tom Crowley, chief executive at Popeyes UK, said: “In just 30 months, our remarkable Popeyes UK team has secured a pipeline of 50 top-tier new sites, including our first ever Northern Irish location which opens in Belfast very soon.

“Currently, Popeyes UK is the fastest-growing chicken QSR brand in the UK, with a 125% year-on-year growth from May 2023 to May 2024.

“We remain committed to our expansion plans and look forward to achieving new milestones in the upcoming years.”
