Morrisons begins doorstep deliveries to retirement communities
Morrisons has teamed up with the McCarthy & Stone to extend its doorstep food delivery service to homeowners within McCarthy & Stone retirement communities.
The move follows a successful trial at 441 communities where residents ordered their groceries from Morrisons over the phone using a dedicated telesales line.
Orders are sent to customers’ local store where the items are picked from the shelf and hand delivered by a Morrisons staff member the next day. Once their order arrives, customers can check and pay for it. McCarthy & Stone homeowners also receive a complimentary bunch of flowers with their first order.
Morrisons said the partnership will enable it to deliver groceries to over 20,000 older people, some of whom do not have the technology or are unable to order groceries online.
Anna Lane, local director at Morrisons, said: “We launched our doorstep service for those who were vulnerable and shielding in the early stages of the pandemic. Customers have since told us it’s been a vital service and that’s why we’re extending the service to new communities such as McCarthy & Stone’s homeowners.”
Morrisons is running the service across all 441 McCarthy & Stone developments across the UK.
