Morrisons acquires 38 convenience stores in the Channel Islands
The Morrisons supermarket chain has acquired 38 stores in the Channel Islands from its long-term partner Sandpiper.
The purchase also includes six fuel forecourts.
All of the stores are currently supplied by Morrisons in some capacity and 19 operate under the Morrisons Daily fascia. Situated in Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney, the sites had a turnover of £124.5 million, or £118.9 million, excluding fuel, in the last 12 months.
The deal will include around 20 Sandpiper store operations and managerial team members transferring to Morrisons. The business will be managed by Joseph Sutton, Morrisons convenience, online and wholesale director and his teamm, which includes Miles Foster, convenience operations director.
Morrisons has been working with Sandpiper since 2018 following the signing of a long-term franchise and wholesale supply agreement.

Morrisons has 1,600 convenience stores across the UK of which around 600 are franchise stores.
