Marchesi 1824 chooses London for first shop outside of Italy
Prada owned Marchesi 1824 is to open its first store outside of Italy in London’s Mayfair.
Situated at 117 Mount Street, the pastry shop will feature a pastry counter, bakery and café and sell the company’s signature panettone and chocolates as well as confectionery, coffee, tea and other refreshments.
Founded in 1824, the company still operates its original shop in Milan at Via Santa Maria alla Porta and has remained faithful to its founding traditions of using the finest ingredients, with the highest craftsmanship and attention to detail.
With Prada having acquired a majority share in the business in 2014, it has two other shops in Milan at Via Monte Napoleone and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
Keith Bailey, Mayfair director for Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said: “We are delighted to welcome Pasticceria Marchesi to Mount Street. This café and shop, a new amenity for locals and visitors, will grow the openness and appeal of our London estate. On top of that, Prada Group’s legacy and credentials chime perfectly with Mount Street’s boutiques, heritage brands and restaurants.”
Other companies with a retail presence in Mount Street include Roksanda, Christopher Kane, Celine, Simone Rocha, Scott’s restaurant and recent addition Matchesfashion.com.
