Majestic opens two stores in a week for first time in a decade
Majestic is opening two new stores in the same week for the first time in a decade as it continues its investment in physical retail.
The wine retailer celebrated a return to Chippenham on Tuesday, four years after its former store in the town was closed down by previous management. The new 4,775 square foot shop is situated close to Waitrose at the Old Foundry on Foundry Lane.
Meanwhile, Majestic will open its largest store in Wales today in Monmouth. Spanning 6,275 square feet, the shop sits alongside Waitrose, M&S Food and Cook on the town’s Monnow Street. Only Majestic’s flagship in London’s St John’s Wood has a larger footprint than the new Monmouth store.
Majestic chief executive John Colley said: “Opening two stores in a week for the first time in 10 years underlines our ongoing commitment to physical, experiential retail, and offers a clear sign of how far we have progressed as a business under the ownership of Fortress.
“We are proud to be accelerating that pipeline of new store openings ahead of Christmas and are excited about becoming a part of even more communities across the UK in the coming months.”
In addition to serving the public, the Chippenham and Monmouth stores will support Majestic’s B2B division, Majestic Commercial, by supplying wines to pubs, bars and restaurants across Wiltshire and the south of Wales.
