Lidl rolls out ‘fun size’ trolleys for kids
The Lidl supermarket chain is rolling out new ‘fun size trolleys’ for kids following a successful trial.
The trolleys will be introduced in more than 250 stores that have large entrances and exits, as well as in all new stores.
After a trial proved successful in Lidl’s Oakham and Tooting stores last year, Lidl will supply stores included in the roll-out with a kids’ trolley bay with nine trolleys, each equipped with a lock and Fun Size flag.
The trolleys are named after Lidl’s Oaklands Fun Size range – miniature versions of ordinary fruit and vegetable varieties – which was designed to help parents encourage their children to eat five a day. Launched in 2016, the range now includes over 14 products.
Lidl UK’s commercial director Ryan McDonnell said: “We’re constantly looking for new ways to make shopping more fun and engaging for kids. We’re keen to help parents build their children’s understanding of what they eat, and we hope that our new Fun Size Trolleys will encourage kids to play a bigger part in the family shop.”
