Greggs faces shortages of vegan sausage rolls
Greggs has warned of “temporary interruptions” to the vegan pastry as the UK continues to experience some food shortages.
The unfortunate shortage comes after Greggs CEO Roger Whiteside declared last month that despite economy-wide issues with getting products to shelves “the sausage roll is safe.”
The Greggs vegan sausage roll has been available on the bakery’s hot counter since 2019, and has since become a British favourite and a profit-booster for Greggs.
A spokesman for the chain said “some shops may not have them or may not have them throughout the day – it varies”, but added the company was working hard to minimise problems.
The bakery chain told customers on Twitter that it was also experiencing supply issues with sweeteners and sugar, and sausage and bean melts.
