Getir to cut 2,500 jobs across five countries
Getir, the rapid grocery delivery company, is to cut around 2,500 jobs across five countries as part of restructuring plans.
The job cuts, which will impact the UK, will total over 10% of the company’s 23,000-strong workforce. Other countries where workers will be affected will include the US, Germany, the Netherlands, and Getir’s home market of Turkey.
A Getir spokesperson said: “Decisions like this are never taken lightly.
“However, Getir is determined to do right by all employees affected by the process in line with its values and in full compliance with local laws.
“Getir is very grateful to all colleagues for their hard work, dedication, and significant contributions to the business.”
Employees expected to be impacted by the move will include pickers, couriers and office employees.
In July, Getir said it was pulling out Italy, Spain and Portugal as demand for rapid delivery slows following the ending of pandemic lockdowns.
Last year, Getir acquired rival delivery firm Gorillas in a $1.2 billion deal.
