EG Group appoints Stuart Rose as chairman
EG Group has appointed retail veteran Stuart Rose as non-executive chairman with immediate effect.
A former chief executive and executive chairman of Marks & Spencer, Lord Rose is currently chairman of online supermarket Ocado, but will retire from the role in May.
EG Group is jointly owned by the Issa brothers, Zuber and Mohsin, and private equity firm TDR Capital. The group is currently in the process of buying Asda and also operates convenience stores, foodservice outlets and fuel stations at more than 6,000 sites in 10 countries including the UK and Ireland, the US, Australia, Germany, Italy, France and Benelux.
The group reported sales of over €20 billion in the year to December 2019 and adjusted EBITDA of €910 million.
